PAYROLL SUPERVISOR
Job location: Boston, MA

Summary:

Supervises the weekly payroll functions for the Hospital and Boston Community Care, Inc. Responsible for accumulating and processing payroll data using the ADP time and attendance and payroll system. Ensures that all daily, weekly and monthly payroll processes are performed correctly and timely and no backlogs in activities exist.

  • Manage all activities included in the payroll process and serve as the primary accounting and finance liaison for those transactions with Hospital employees, department heads, managers and agents.
  • Carry out such accounting entries or tasks relating to payroll in accordance with mechanisms presented by Chief Financial Officer or others in the Finance Department.
  • Work with Human Resources and other Hospital Departments as well as the payroll-processing vendor to streamline employment and payroll processes.
  • Review and understand the accounting needs and business aspects of the Hospital's benefit programs and suggest strategies to effectively implement these requirements into the payroll process.
  • Coordinate with the software vendor or Information Systems Department to resolve any systems issues included in day-to-day department operations.
  • Establish appropriate departmental structure and maintain policies and procedures as they relate to the payroll process.

Qualifications:

  • Three to five years job experience in relevant disciplines or alternately a 2-year business degree with one to two years' relevant experience.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understand and interpret business data received for payment and understand the basic requirements of payroll processing including information in union contracts.
  • Ability to organize accounting information in a concise manner.
  • Management skills necessary to network, develop and supervise the work of others and delegate effectively.
  • Demonstrate organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of accredited School of Nursing

  • BS with concentration in Nursing required; Advanced educational preparation is desirable
  • Basic Life Support
